This Festival tal-Kanzunetta Maltija għall-Ewropa 1994 (Festival of Maltese Song for Europe 1994) was organized together by the Ministery of Youth and Culture under the auspices of Minister Dr. Michael Frendo, the Festival was held on 3, 4 and 5 Febuary 1994. At the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta.

The Organising Committee for this Festival was made by Gaetano Abela as the chairman of the Festival, Robert Cefai Secretary and Sue Zammit, Frans Fenech, Joe Vassallo, Alfred Debono as members

There were 222 Submission

Awards Festival Song For Europe 1994

(A) Nine (9) Songs finalists be issued on CD.

(B) Fifty Maltese Lira (Lm 50) awarded to those songs that took part in the knockout Festival and has qualified for the final evening.

(C) Memorial Trophy given to the composers, authors and the singer / principal of a five (5) finalists.

Thursday 3rd February 1994 at 7.30pm 10 songs sung Festival of Maltese Song. Make interval of 20 minutes. Having sung 10 songs Song for Europe.


The jury select 7 songs from each Festival qualify for the Semi Final. (Jury not known till today)

Friday 4th February 1994 at 7.30pm 7 selected songs sung by Maltese song festival. Interval of 20 minutes. Exhibition Ballroom Dance school of Tony Lawrence and later sung 7 songs Song for Europe

The jury select 5 songs from each qualifying for the Final Festival


Saturday 5 February 1994 at 7.30pm

10 finalists sung songs, the first 5 of Maltese Song Festival, is then the Song for Europe Festival.

Interval of 20 minutes, Exhibition of the Academy of Ballet Danza Tanya Bayona-Poutiatine.

Winners and becomes the Presentation by Hon Minister Dr.Michael Frendo
