The committee has always been proud to recognise the talent of local artists and therefore, in this edition, 3 special awards [[L-Għanja li Tibqa']] were given to [[Gaetano Buttigieg]] well known as Gaetano Kanta, and singers [[Joe Grech]] and [[Freddie Portelli]].

The committee have always put a lot of emphasis on the language and therefore, lyrics are always of the essence in this competition and this was seen within the choice of the jury for the evening, composed of scholars within the linguistics and literary field.

The 30th edition of L-Għanja tal-Poplu was held on Friday 15 April 2005 at the Audio Vision Studios in Ħamrun broadcast live on PBS during Xarabank presented by Peppi Azzopardi.
