The committee has always been proud to recognise the talent of local artists and therefore, special awards were given to [[Gaetano Buttigieg]], well known as Gaetano Kanta, and singers [[Joe Grech]] and [[Freddie Portelli]].  
The committee has always been proud to recognise the talent of local artists and therefore, in this edition, special awards [[L-Għanja li Tibqa']] were given to [[Vince Fabri]] and [[Manwel Mifsud]].  


The committee have always put a lot of emphasis on the language and therefore, lyrics are always of the essence in this competition and this was seen within the choice of the jury for the evening, composed of scholars within the linguistics and literary field.
