The '''30th edition''' of [[L-Għanja tal-Poplu]] was held on Friday 15 April 2005 at the [[Audio Vision Studios]] in [[Ħamrun]] broadcast live on [[PBS]] during [[Xarabank]] presented by [[Peppi Azzopardi]].

The '''30th edition''' of [[L-Għanja tal-Poplu]] was held on Saturday 21 April, 2005 at the [[Sir Temi Zammit]] in [[tal-Qroqq]].
94 original songs were submitted, shortlisted to 40 songs by a jury panel, and shortlisted again to 15 finalists by a different jury.
The show was broadcast live on [[PBS]] a week after on Saturday 28 April, 2005. The presenter of the Festival where [[Valerie Vella]].  


It was submite a total of 94 orginal songs which was choose by a panel of Jury’s [[ ? ]] to 40 songs, then again another jury’s  [[ ? ]] choose the 18 songs which passed for the Final.

The interval act as people awaited the final results was offered entertainment by the magicition [[Lorenzo Brincat]] and dance by [[Msida Dance Centre]], The 2000 winners [[Glen Vella]] and [[Eleanor Cassar]] where missing, because they where aboard taken part in a Festival in Bulgaria with the same song ‘It-Tfal tal-Lum’ by [[Paul Ellul]] and [[Chan Vella]] and during the Festival the presenter Valerie Vella announced that they on that day win this Festival.

The committee has always been proud to recognise the talent of local artists and therefore, a special award was given to [[Gaetano Buttigieg]] well known as Gaetano Kantanta, another gived was presented to singers [[Joe Grech]] and [[Freddie Portelli]].

The committee have always put a lot of emphasis on the language and therefore, lyrics are always of the essence in this competition and this was seen within the choice of the jury for the evening, composed of scholars within the linguistics and literary field.

After in the Hall was shown on the screem the votes of each jury’s in total five, and they where [[Brian Bonnici]], [[Elio Lombardi]], Dr.[[Manwl Mifsud]], [[Frank O’Neill]] and [[Dominic  Said]]. With this votes was included too the votes of the public too. While Alfie Fabri read the votes.
