* Since the first two songs brought the same number of votes, another vote is held between them, with the result that the song ''Il-Karrakka'' was in the first post (4 votes), and the song ''Aħna li ma mmorrux fuq Xarabank'' came in second place (3 votes).
 
The counting of votes produced a tie between the first two songs, therefore a fresh vote was needed between the songs in question only. ''Il-Karrakka'' received 4 votes while ''Aħna li ma mmorrux fuq Xarabank'' received 3.

L-Għanja tal-Poplu 1999

The 24th edition of L-Għanja tal-Poplu was held on Saturday 24 April 1999 at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta and the show was compered by Claire Abela and Joe Dimech.

Tickets were available from the Y.T.C. 227 Merchants' Street, Valletta.

All profits from tickets and sponsors at the contest were donated to L-Arka.
