Jesmond Tedesco Triccas
Jesmond Tedesco Triccas (1963–2022) was a Maltese singer, songwriter, and actor.
Triccas, as he was better known, played with several relatively underground bands throughout the 1980s, such as Sing Sing and Prinz Eugene. His greatest claim to fame came at the 1986 MaltaSajf festval when he performed his own Maltese-language lyrics for Hotel California and Stairway to Heaven. Towards the end of that decade the paired up with Toni Vella to form the popular musical comedy duo Freeway.
In the 1990s Triccas became involved in a number of song contests in Malta, most notably the Malta Song for Europe festival, where his Maltese-language lyrics featured on the winning song Issa / This Time by William Mangion in 1993. He then appeared as a performer in the 1996 and 1997 editions of the same contest. From 1998 he moved on to participating in L-Għanja tal-Poplu. After singing Daqsxejn Tolleranza in 1998, he went on to win that contest in 1999 with the song Il-Karrakka, which was written by Renato Briffa and lyricist Mario F. Caruana. He appeared one more time as a participant in this song conest in 2007 with the song Fil-Fidi Magħqudin.
During the first two decades of the 21st century he appeared in a number of musicals including Sette Giugno, Żeża tal-Flagship, Rewwixta tal-Bdiewa and Scrooge. He also appeared in the Teatru Malta production of Raymond "Fight" Beck at Spazju Kreattiv.
Jesmond Tedesco Triccas died on Tuesday 9 August 2022 after a long illness.
