L-Għanja tal-Poplu trophy is detained for a year by the author/composer of the winning song. Trophies were also rewarded to the song with the best interpretation, the best social theme and the best musical arrangement.

*For the song Il-Maltin Fuq Mars Jesmond Tedesco Triccas replaced [[Hector Bruno]] although on the cd recording sings Hector Bruno.

A Panel of five jury judges the songs , they are [[Brian Bonnici]], [[Elio Lombandi]], Dr.[[Manwel Mifsud]], [[Frank O’Neil]] and [[Domenic Said]], beside that their was also the public opinton vote, and another vote in total seven juries, under the osservation of Dr.[[Sandro Schembri Adami]].

During the process till the jury find the best winners there was enterterment by the magicina [[Lorenzo Brincat]] and the [[Msida Dance Centre]], The winners of the 2000 Edition [[Glen Vella]] and [[Eleanor Cassar]] with the song by [[Chan Vella]] and [[Paul Ellul]] where not prestered because they where aboard taken part with the seame song in a Song Festival in Bulgaria and during the show Valerie Vella annouced that, they win that festival.

During the vote counting, the audience was entertained by magician [[Lorenzo Brincat]] and a dancing troupe from the [[Msida Dance Centre]]. The winners of the previous edition, [[Glen Vella]] and [[Eleanor Cassar]], could not perform their song as they were competing in Bulgaria on the same day.

L-Għanja tal-Poplu 2001

The 26th Edition of L-Għanja tal-Poplu was held on Friday and Saturday 20 and 21 April 2001 at Sir Temi Zammit Hall, at Tal-Qroqq, l-Imsida.

The show, presented by Valerie Vella, was broadcast a week after on 28 April 2001 on PBS. 94 songs were submitted, shortlisted by a panel of jurors to 40 songs until the final 18 were chosen by a different panel.

The Final Jury

A Panel of five jury judged the songs in the final night:-
