The 35th edition of L-Għanja tal-Poplu was held on Saturday 4 December 2010 at the Grand Ballroom of the Hotel Phoenicia in Floriana.

In this festival of original songs in Maltese, the participants interpret and accompany their own songs live.

The winning songwriters can choose any artist to represent Malta in an international song festival under the aegis of the World Association of Festivals and Artists.

The show was broadcast live on One TV through a special edition of Bla Agenda. Vanni Pulé was expected to present the show but pulled out citing personal reasons, which many took to relate to the murder attempt on his son Konrad Pulé just two days earlier, on 2 December 2010. Deo Grech stood in at short notice.

Winners

  1. Corazon triumphed with her self-penned entry Mill-Għajnejn ta’ Tifla, which she sung accompanied by Alfred Fenech (oboe), Robert Tomasuolo (guitar), Maria Bonnici (flute), Mark Darmanin (percussion) and Mario "Cocker" Aquilina (double bass), collectively called il-Ħbieb tal-Qalb. She also won the Best Interpretation Award. This was Corazon’s third victory in this festival, after winning last year with the song Ta’ L-Aħħar, a duet with Walter Micallef - who was this year's special guest. Corazon also won the festival in 2007 with the song Hawn Jien and the following year she was given the Best Interpretation Award for the song Illejla B’Xejn.
  2. Petra Zammit won second place with the song Rakkont ta’ Omm composed by Heathcliff Balzan with lyrics by Deo Grech. The song lyrics were awarded the prize for Best Social Theme in this year’s festival.
  3. Rita Pace placed third with her self-penned song Indunajt.

The winning songs were profiled during Toni Sant's 238th Mużika Mod Ieħor podcast on Saturday 11 December 2010, along with a couple of other songs in the contest.
