The 27th edition of L-Għanja tal-Poplu was held on Friday and Saturday 19 and 20 April, 2002 at the at the University of Malta's Sir Temi Zammit Hall at Tal-Qroqq in Msida.

The show was broadcast live on PBS. The host of the Festival where Romina Bonaci and Karl Bonaci.

It was submited a total of ? orginal songs which was choose by a panel of Jury’s ? choose the 16 songs which passed for the Final.

Tickets at €10 were available from the Y.T.C. 227 Merchants' Street, Valletta.

Recognition

The committee has always been proud to recognise the talent of local artists and therefore, L-Għanja li Tibqa' awards were given to The Greenfields who given the public many folklorist songs, David Azzopardi who given the public many religious songs with a good message, and to Frans Baldacchino il-Budaj who with a great interpretion with floklolist songs enjoy the public.
