The 26 th Edition of L-Għanja tal-Poplu was held on Friday and Saturday 20 and 21 April 2001 at the Sir Temi Zammit Hall, at Tal-Qroqq, Msida.

The show, presented by Valerie Vella, was broadcast a week after on 28 April 2001 on PBS. 94 songs were submitted, shortlisted by a panel of jurors to 40 songs until the final 18 were chosen by a different panel.
