The 22nd Edition of L-Għanja tal-Poplu was held on Saturday 26 April, 1997 at the Mediterranean Conference Centre at Valletta.

The Festival was also shown on TVM.

It was submited a total of 144 orginal songs which was choose by a panel of Jury’s ? choose the 16 songs which passed for the Final.

Tickets at € 10 were available from the Y.T.C. 227 Merchants' Street, Valletta.

For this Editon also was published a Cd and a Programm.

The host of the festival where Romina Bonaci and Karl Bonaci.
