The '''34th edition''' of [[L-Għanja tal-Poplu]] was held on Saturday 28 November2009 at the [[Grand Ballroom]] of the [[Hotel Phoenicia]] in [[Floriana]].
The '''34th edition''' of [[L-Għanja tal-Poplu]] was held on Saturday 28 November 2009 at the [[Grand Ballroom]] of the [[Hotel Phoenicia]] in [[Floriana]].


From this Edition The Organizing Committee that from this Edition, All the participant must sing the song with a grupp of musician playing live evey song on the stage.
The Organizing Committee decided that from this edition onwards, songs in the final are played live with live instruments on stage.


This year the Festival profits from tickets, cd and program pubblication and sponsors will give to the [[Richmond Foundation]].
Though the festival is organized by a voluntary committee, it was decided that all profits are to be given to the [[Richmond Foundation]].
The L-Għanja tal-Poplu every year was held by a voluntary Committee and got more espensive then profit. And till the passed twenty years the festival was held by the finally gift by [[Youth Travel Circle]] organized by Fr. Maurice Mifsud.


The Festival was also showen on television.

It was submited a total of [[ ? ]] orginal songs which was choose by a panel of Jury’s [[ ? ]] choose the 13 songs which passed for the Final.
13 songs were chosen for the Final.


Tickets at € 10 were available from the Y.T.C. 227 Merchants' Street, Valletta.

The 34th edition of L-Għanja tal-Poplu was held on Saturday 28 November 2009 at the Grand Ballroom of the Hotel Phoenicia in Floriana.

The Organizing Committee decided that from this edition onwards, songs in the final are played live with live instruments on stage.

Though the festival is organized by a voluntary committee, it was decided that all profits are to be given to the Richmond Foundation.

The Festival was also showen on television.

13 songs were chosen for the Final.

The interval act as people awaited the final results was offered entertainment by [[ ]], [[ ]], [[ ]]

Recognition

The committee has always been proud to recognise the talent of local artists and therefore, a special award was given to Doreen Galea and with her son Mro.Dominic Galea sings some song from her new cd album ‘Ommi’ a compilation of 12 songs written by Maltese poet, include the first poet Kantilena by Pietru Caxaru which take us back around 1450. The music of this new songs was all composed by Dominic Galea.

Another gift was given to Martin Vella a singer and for many years presented and produced a radio program named Maltin Biss on the National Radio Station.

The committee have always put a lot of emphasis on the language and therefore, lyrics are always of the essence in this competition and this was seen within the choice of the jury for the evening, composed of scholars within the linguistics and literary field. The gifts where presented by Dolores Gauci a rappresented of the Richmond Foundation.
