The Eighth Edition of the Festival was organized by the Youth Travel Circle (YTC), under the guidance of Fr Maurice Mifsud, by the name of Festival ta' Kant Folk. Fifteen songs took part in the final night on 17 May 1980 at St Albert College, Valletta. The show was compered by Catherine D'Alfonso and Lawrence Cutajar.
Miriam Dougall, Louis Stride and Joe Cassar were in charge of the stage while George Pollacco was responsible for sound and audio.
