Dario Bezzina

Dario Bezzina was born on 20th June 1989 and is a Maltese singer, songwriter and musician.

His love for music was cultivated from an early age during school activities and started off his music career by studying the piano and music theory. Eventually, he followed vocal training under the tuition of the Maltese veteran singer Doreen Galea.

He was discovered on the island in 2004, when he participated in the Junior Song for Europe with the song Eviva l-Muzika and finished the first runner-up with just one point away from the opportunity to represent Malta in the Junior Eurovision. This experience has played a significant role in his career and has definitely helped him put his name forward.

At the young age of fourteen, Dario represented Malta in the Romanian Ti Amo singers’ festival in which he was awarded the special prize of international jury.

From there on, Dario participated in various prestigious contests as a singer/songwriter. These include L-Għanja tal-Poplu, the Malta International TV Song Festival, the Malta Hit Song Contest and Konkors Kanżunetta Indipendenża. He also made it through to the semi-finals of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest on two occasions.

Dario finds acting and musical theatre to be another interesting way to express his passion for music. In fact, he has been active in various musicals and credits, include Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcot, Lion King, Wizard of Oz and Sound of Music.

Sometimes Dario sings alone or with her sister another good singer Grecia Bezzina or accompaned her on the piano.

Musically he is inspired by artists such as Il Divo, Beyonce, Adele and the queen of soul, Aretha Franklin. He is also a proud member of Animae Gospel Choir, which is one of the most esteemed vocal ensembles in Malta.

In 2012, Dario received the Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours) degree from the University of Malta and works as an accountant with one of the leading audit firms in Malta.

Last work by Dario is an orginal musical Ħidmietna to memorate the 70 years of the General Workers Union music by Elton Zarb and written and direct by Brian Bonnici held in October 2013.

On the 9 November 2013 Dario and her sister took parti in the Festival Internazzjonali tal-Kanzunetta Maltija 2013 and finished in the third place with the song Solitaire music by Dario himself with lyrics of Rita Pace

On 17 September, 2015 Dario Bezzina taken part in the Final of Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza 2015 with the song written by himself and composed by Ray Agius and win the Third Place.

On 19 September, 2016. Dario was among the 24 finalist of the 25th Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza 2016 held at Floriana and win the festival, with the song Se Naslu Zgur lyrics and Mmusic by Ray Agius.

On 23, 24 and 25 September, 2016. Dario taken part in the Musical Il-Perit producer by Bronk Productions at Sir Temi Zammit Hall, writen by Brian Bonnici, composed by Dominic Cini, direct by Tonio Vella.

On 2 September, 2017 Dario taken part in L-Għanja tal-Poplu 2017 in a duet with her sister Grecia Bezzina with the song ’13, Strada Stretta’ lyrics by Emil Calleja Bayliss and music by Dario himself, and they place second with this song.

On Saturday 7 August, 2021 Dario Bezzina and her sister Grecia Bezzina performed the song Il-Bajtar Sar lyrics by Rita Pace and music by Dario himself and Aldo Spiteri and they win The Best Interpretation title. On Saturday 7 Aug
