Domenique Azzopardi

Domenique Azzopardi (born 7 April 1995) is a Maltese pop singer.

At 4 years of age, she began taking vocal lessons under the tutorship of Maltese singer and teacher Phyllisienne Brincat.

Singing has helped in her self-esteem. Domenique states that singing was the best therapy to overcome this weakness. Teachers who helped her in this direction include singer Priscilla Psaila 'Kaya' and SLS tutor Joshua Alamu.

Domenique won singing contests in malta and abroad, namely Tunis, Italy and Romania. She had the opportunity to record several songs in Germany with 'Jupiter Records' led by Ralph Siegel and in Vienna with author and composer Mathias Strasser.

Locally she gained a lot of experiences. She was involved in Maltese television programmes and concerts such as Maltese Rock Opera Ġensna, The Michael Jackson Tribute, The Animae Gospel Choir Concert, Bravi, Sas-Sitta Teen Singing Challenge and much more. She reached the 'Malta Eurovision Song Contest' semi-final at the age of 15 with song I’ll Follow The Sunshine and the 3rd placing at the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza 2012 with song Tama u Kuraġġ.

Domenique was one of the 16 finalists of the ‘Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2013’ and shortly after, she was shortlisted to audition in London in well-known Simon Cowell's 'Britian’s Got Talent'.

In September 2013 she took part in "Konkors Kanżunetta Indipendenża 2013" with the song B'Ħarsitna 'L Fuq with music by Mark Spiteri Lucas and lyrics by Paul Ellul. She won The Best Performance and the Televoting awards. She finished in the twelfth placing jointly with other three songs, Fejn Hemm L-Għaqda, Hemm Is-Saħħa by Christian Arding,Nibqa by Janice Mangion and Int Kont Hemm by Daniel Muscat with 67 points. Currently, Domenique is the new addition in the TVM programme Sibtek where she is the one of the resident singers. She was also a resident singer on programme Bejnietna L-Ħbieb from October 2013 until June 2014.

Domenique believes that the road of success is appreciated only when you have tasted the bitter side of the career, and also in keeping your feet on the ground.

On the 9 November 2013 Domenique took part in the Festival Internazzjonali tal-Kanzunetta Maltija with the song Passi Fir-Ramel music by Philip Vella and lyrics of Mark Amaria]] and she won a participation award.

In September 2014 she took part and ended among the finalists in the final night of the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza - 2014, with the song Mara lyrics by Paul Ellul and music by Philip Vella.

On Tuesday 23 September, 2014 Domenique took part in the final night of the Malta Summer Hit Song Contest - 2014 with the song Back To with lyrics of Emil Calleja Bayliss and music by Mark Scicluna and won this festival for the first time. One may remark that in the 2010 edition, Domenique won the Public Televoting award with song Violet Skies.

On the 27 and 28 September 2014, Domenque was one of the performers in Rockestra - 2014.

On 21 November 2014 Domenique Azzopardi took part in the semi-final of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2015, with the song Take Me As I Am but unfortunately didn’t make it to the final sixteen.

On 17 September 2015 she took part in the Final of Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza 2015 with the song Tħalluhx written by Joe Julian Farrugia and composed by Augusto Cardinali.

Domenique is being coached by Gillian Attard of La Voix Academy, where she is teaching some students too.

On 8 May 2016 she reached the semi-finals of L-Għanja tal-Poplu 2016 – Festival tal-Kanzunetta Maltija with the song Pupa tal-Plastik lyrics by Paul Ellul and music by Marco Debono.

In July 2016 Domenique Azzopardi using her new stage 'Anique' took part in the L-Għanja tal-Poplu 2006 – (Festival Kanzunetta Maltija) with the song Pupa tal-Plastik lyricis by Paul Ellul and composed by Marco Debono. She passed from the Semi-Final held on Thursday 7 July, 2016, she passed for the Final Night held on Saturday 9 July, 2016 with this song

On 19 September, 2019 Domenique made a come back in music scene when she got two songs reach the final phase of Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza 2019 with 'Frammenti' lyricis by Mark Amaira and composer by Philip Vella and 'Ma Ninsew Qatt' lyricis by Rita Pace and music by Marco Debono
