A panel of judges with experience in the music industry sifted through all the preliminary nominations received and came up with a final list of the most deserving nominees per category. They met at the Grand Hotel Excelsior in Floriana. [[Michael Bugeja]] from the [[M3P Foundation]] served as independent observer on the shortlisting and voting process, replacing the customary presence of [[UKAM]] in previous editions.
