This is a timeline of digital art in Malta. It was created in combination with the research exhibition Remembering the Future: Digital Art in Malta (1989-2019) curated by Vince Briffa and Toni Sant for DRHA 2018, held at Spazju Kreattiv in Valletta in September 2018.
In essence, in this a working list and not intended as a comprehensive timeline of digital art in Malta. It stems from a research project intended to capture as many memories as possible of digital art created and/or presented in Malta over time.
1970's
1976/1977
- Folji by the artist Caesar Attard is a gestetner printed itinerary/ visual newsletter issued by the art group Vision 74 which was meant to be an experiment in decentralised participation and which encouraged and promoted member involvement and interaction.
1980s
The earliest digital art in Malta arguably appeared in the form of MIDI and electronic synthesizer compositions. Collecting this is potentially a separate timeline in itself.
1989
- Mill-Garaxx opening credits and link for TVM by Chris Agius and Mike Rizzo is a 2 minutes digital animation.
1990s
ASCII art was certainly present in Malta during the 1990s, especially after the introduction of domestic internet access in 1996. There are no known works of ASCII art from Malta that have been preserved.
1997
- Bricolage interview about digital art with Vince Briffa by Toni Sant for TVM programme produced by Malcolm J Demanuele, which aired in 1998.
1998
- Larger Than Life I by the artist Norbert Francis Attard is the first part of an installation where he uses video created through digital means, which is integrated into this piece with a relative ease previously unknown except to broadcast professionals.

- Hermes is a video of 16 minutes, by the artist Vince Briffa.
2000's
2003
- Metawarphosis by the artist Norbert Francis Attard is a 2 minutes digital animation video, the first by a Maltese artist to utilise Flash technology to create animation sequence.
2005
- Digital Discourse is a 4 minutes video from the exhibition Digital Discourse by Vince Briffa presented a paronamic view of the state of the then current lens-based, digital and electronic creative work in a selection of Commonwealth countries. It was held at Spazju Kreattiv.
2007
- Exploring 3D Virtual Worlds for Digital Art is a compilation of documents from virtual worlds and belongs to Fondazzjoni Kreattività Art Collection.
2008
- Minn Fejn Int?, translated to Where are you from?, by the artist Norbert Francis Attard is a 3 minutes video that involved the use of digital photography to enable visual art on a scale that was previously more cumbersome and time consuming to produce.
2009

2017
- Consume (video) is a 10 minutes video by the artist Victor Agius that was part of his exhibition Consume in Spazju Kreattiv.
- Another is a video piece by the artist Letta Shtohryn.
2018
- Dislocated Geographies (video) is a 2/3 minutes video by the artist Mario Abela that was part of his exhibition Dislocated Geographies in Spazju Kreattiv.
- Sharp Shooter is an art installation by the artist Matyou Galea.
- 4 eye drawings describing a figure is an art installation by the artist Matthew Attard.
- 360 - cultural heritage of the canals is an art installation by the artist Adnan Hadzi.
- Il-Kurċifiss, translated to The Crucifix, is an art installation by the artist Matthew Schembri.
- Dealing with death in the digital age is an art installation by the artist Sara Pace.
