Jason Vella was born at Paola on 10 December, 1974. Former footballer and singer. His singing career started at the age of 23 when he unfortunalty had to stop playing football after he got a serious injury that left him out of the game for the rest of his carreer..
He played with many teams , first with his home town club of Hibernians FC to 18 years where he won all the honors from U / 12 to U/ 18 with the Hibs Għajn Dwieli Nursery, and with a pride he lead his team mates wearing the band of Captain. At 18 years as a reserve also played some matches in Premier Division. When he reached 19 years although he try to take his place in the first team , he find it a little difficult to be more regular and since those times premier clubs had not the mentality to use their products from their youth grow sections the club decided to transfer him with some clubs that were interested in his services and he remember that he went to Gudja Utd in Second Division that year.
From there onwards Jason always looked forward and always got picked from clubs who had planned to win promotions infact he did so.with Siġġiewi from 3rd to 1st Div promotions. Xgħajra Tornadoes from Second Division to First Division to Premier and Qrendi FC from Third Division to Second Division.
He won leagues and honors with every team he played. When he was Playing in Premier Division at 23 years old, at the best of his carreer,Jason suffered this injury which left him out for ever, but life close a door, and opens another.
When he was a child he was always with a choir singing in a church or school activities that he attend, but football was the first priority and could not managed with the two of them in the same time.
After he could’nt player anymore football, he decided to concentrate on singing , he started studying with Phyllisienne Brincat who gave him loads of opportunities and later under Brian Cefai. In one of the Festivals he partecipated Jason met with the singers manager of that time Massimo Ellul who was judging him in that Festival. Jason won that festival and got asked by Mr.Ellul if he wants to be his manager and if he wished to work with him. Obviously he did not refused this opportunity,and from that day onwards Jason had loads of open horizons infront of him.
He remember, that the first time view on tv as a singer was a programme named Talenti Ġodda presented by David Azzopardi, later after he was a host singer on One TV program Summer Break and he would be invited to participate in certain tv programmes. True his Manager he began to sing in several four and five stars hotels too, and from there he gain confidence that boosted him up.
Once among others in a particular hotel , there was Charles Curmi Baby Face a late promoter for the Maltese singers inside Australia for his holiday, where he heard Jason singing, and offered to promote him to the Maltese emigrants in Australia. It was a great experience when a few months later he sang in big halls infront of hundreds of people in Melbourne.
In Theatre true Phyllisienne Brincat and thanks to Hector Bruno and George Micallef, Jason took part in two operettas in Manoel Theatre with Valletta Dramatic Company Il Paese Del Campanelli and La Principessa Del Azzarda.
But the most wonderful experience he got true over his life was in 2009 when his best friends in music scene Paul Giordimaina and Bayzo encouraged him to make auditions for Ġensna where thanks to Mro. Paul Abela and Ray Mahoney gave him the part of a Knight (IL-KAVALLIER). Jason true his contacts abroad even managed to sing in England,Italy,Tunisia,Germany and Australia.
By true friends and also with his will, Jason keeps going in his singing way, and he advice youngsters to take their singing career seriously and keep studying so one day all dreams come true.
He thanked Phyillisenne Brincat for being there for him. His second father Bayzo and best friend Paul Giordimaina for their support and advices.
