She was educated in the Msida Primary School, knows as  School of Coloursamd then in St. Louis Grammar School Sliema

Mary Rose never intend to going for Broadcasting, always wanted to be a teacher, but one day, she was listening to the Rediffusion and there was a request for announcers. She applied and after six months of training she was chossing. Taught by great iconas in Maltese Broadcasting history like [[Charles Arrigo]], [[Victor Galdes]], [[Victor Aquilina]], [[Hurles Ida Hobbs]], [[Joan Azzopardi]] and [[Liliana Bencini]].
Although her original career choice was to be a school teacher, she became a professional broadcast following a formal request for announcers. During her initial six months of training, she worked directly with [[Charles Arrigo]], [[Victor Galdes]], [[Victor Aquilina]], [[Ida Hurle Hobbs]], [[Joan Azzopardi]] and [[Liliana Bencini]].


She presented many programs, first started on the ‘A Network’ of Rediffusion, then she set them English language programs. ''Listeners' Choice'', ''Gospel Music'', ''Evening Star'', ''Siesta Time'', ''Folk Music''. When reducing the DJ as announcer was our duty to do our program instead. Then she move for switch ‘B Network’ and started full time career. Got programs intended for immigrants, named ''Il-Ħolqa'' (The Ring). Programs morning, lie 
Her initial duties were on Rediffusion's A Network, which broadcast in English. She introduced various programmes, such as ''Listeners' Choice'', ''Gospel Music'', ''Evening Star'', ''Siesta Time'', and ''Folk Music''. Eventually she moved to the B Network, broadcasting exclusively in Maltese. and started full time career. Among the first programmes she worked on was one involving Maltese immigrants, named ''Il-Ħolqa'' (the link), other programmes included ''L-Għażla tas-Semmiegħa'' (Listeners' Choice),  and ''Għoddni Tiegħek'' (Yours Faithfully), among many others.

Many things and episodes happened sometimes, but since they were comic with regards mistakes and things behind the microphone, today ‘I call them nice memories’.
In the process she frequently met, and sometimes interviewed, popular foreign singers and personalities like [[Orietta Berti]], [[Eduardo Vianello]], [[Pupo]], [[Cliff Richard]], [[David Essex]], [[Tom Meyer]] (a Happy Station presenter).


Mary Rose got the opportunity to meet with great famous singers and personalities like Orietta Berti, Edoardo Vianello, Pupo, Cliff Richard, David Essex, Tom Meyer (a presenter on Happy Station).
Johnson worked on TV briefly but abandoned any further involvement in favour of radio. Towards the end of her career, she was assigned clerical duties at [[PBS]] as continuity announcers were removed from the broadcasting style of [[Radio Malta]].


On Tv Mary Rose made some interviews and pubblicity only but for a short time her loved was always the radio.
When the duty Annoucers where absolete in the station she continued to work at PBS as a Secretary for five years till she finished from the job.
Nowday Mary Rose Johnson is still a listener. She said ‘Yes Broadcasting is a drug, once touching him difficult cuts away from it’

Mary Rose Johnson (born 28 September 1952) is a retired Rediffusion and Radio Malta announcer from Msida.
