This Festival Malta Song For Europe 2001 was organized by the Ministery of Youth and Culture under the auspices of Minister Dr. Louis Galea, the Festival was held on 6 and 7 Febuary 1998. At the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta.

The Organising Committee for this Festival was made by Charlo Bonnici as the chairman of the Festival, Robert Cefai Secretary and Ray Cassar, Alfred Borg, Mariella Pisani Bencini, Noel Magri, Romina Libreri and Paul Buhagiar as members

Awards Festival Song For Europe 2001

(A) The winning song tirrapenzenta to Malta in the Eurovision Song Festival 2001 will be held in Copenhagan Denmark on 12 th

       May, 2001.

(B) The Composer Finalist given Lm 600 while singers Lm 250 winners awarded

(C) The Second place winner Composer given Lm 350 while singers given Lm 165.

(D) The Third place winner Composer given Lm 240 while the singer get Lm 60.

(E) The composer of the song Sixteeth who took part and were not ranked first,second or third place given Lm 60 each.

(F) The songs will be recorded on CD. And will be given Lm 60 for each song include on the Cd.


The program of the Festival was so

Friday 2 nd February 2001 at 7.30pm Sung all the 16 Songs Finalists of the Festival. Singing the winner of 2000 Claudette Pace. Show by Image Dance Group Magician Vanni Pule Show by the duo International The Olsen Brothers

Saturday 3 rd February 2001 at 7.30pm Sung the 16 finalist songs of the Festival. Presentation of the Song Malta. (As a promotional by Air Malta a cd of 12 songs was issued with the main song is MALTA. This Cd will be part of ‘The World Music Collection’ a collection of music from 150 diffeent countiers. All the songs are composed by Mro. Charles Camilleri and was recorded by Philip Vella) Singing the winner of 2000 Claudette Pace. Show by the duo International The Olsen Brothers


The jury select the winning song of 2001 which will be represents Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagan Denmark

Winners and becomes the Presentation by Hon. Minister Dr. Louis Galea.
