Carmelo Mangion beda jitgħallem il-mużika mal-Għaqda Banda Żejtun f’Jannar tal-1985 u beda jdoqq il-klarinett bandista fl-1987 għall-purċissjoni tal-Ġimgħa l-Kbira. Carmelo Mangion studja t-teorija tal-mużika taħt Mro. John J. Pace u l-prattika mużikali tiegħu taħt it-tagħlim ta' Sonia Sinagra. Carmelo Mangion wera l-interess tiegħu li jibda jipprattika fuq l-Ewphonium ukoll, u b’dan l-istrument daqq għall-ewwel darba meta John J.
