Rita Camilleri

Rita Camilleri was born at Sliema on 17 Februry 1960. Actress.

Her first appearance on stage was when when she was 7 years old, when Fr.Wistin Born of Dominicans in Sliema had heard that there will be drama contest for children, and had written a play named Taqtieħ il Qalb. These were held at the Catholic Institute, at Floriana in final place inside the Manoel Theatre, they placed in third place, and first time she worked at Manoel Theatre!! One could say that her career left from there! From that day the grupp was named and began the Young Deporrians Group, where they do plays and operetta written by Fr. Born and directed by Fr Karm Zammit.

At ten years she worked the part of Vivi in the play for television Riħ fil Bomblu by Kilin (Mike Spiteri). It was a production by the late Mario Ascione and direction of Lino Farrugia. Also took part in small parts on what, at that time, in some radio plays on the Rediffusion.

At seventeen years, Rita joined with the Salesian Actors, where took part in various productions such as E Cosi Se Vi Pare of Pirandello, Filumena Marturano, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Il-Giddieb Omru Qasir of Eduardo di Filippo, Il-Kerrejja by Ġuże Chetctui, Busybody of Jack Poppelwell, Charlie's Aunt, and the part of Mirandolina in Lokandiera of Carlo Goldoni and many others.

Rita got more parts in others production for TV, including Ipokriti (when she took the character after of Marlene after the actress Rachael Portelli was stopped), Undercover, It-Tmien Nota, 506, and Riħ Isfel (these last two production of 26th Frame).

She also get parts in religious production for TV like Uċuħ, Sejjaħtli, and Qalb in-Nies, Rita take part also in the production about the life of Mons. Ġużeppi De Piro with the direction of Lino Grech and production of CAM Productions.

In March of 2012 she worked the character of Filumeno Marturano at the Manuel Theater with Mario Micallef under the direction of Salvu Mallia.

In November 2013 Rita worked the part of Maria in a production of Francis Ebejer Meta Morna Tal-Mellieħa to mark the 20th anniversary since the death of Francis Ebejer in 1993, Uuder the direction of Mario Micallef.
