Julia Camilleri

Julia Camilleri, a young talented singer was born on 14 October 2001 and resides in Rabat, Malta.

She is currently pursuing with her studies at Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary to eventually progress to study as a Sports Psychologist.

Her interest in music and drama hails from a very young age. At age 5, she attended drama lessons at Masquerade, moving on to choir singing with Voices in Harmony Choir group led by Maestro Jason Zerafa at age 8.

The choir gave her the possibility to participate in various local festivities’events / charitable events. Her very first solo debut with a live band was in 2009, was during at a charitable event “The Life is Beautiful Concert” in aid of Puttinu Cares.

In 2014, Julia took a leap and started vocal lessons at La Voix Academy, moving on to vocal and technique lessons with Ms Ritienne Azzopardi and Maestro Joseph Chircop, respectively, directors of Harmonic Ensemble Music and Voice Academy, since 2016.

Julia is due to sit for her Grade 8 certification in Trinity College Vocals Rock & Pop, moreover pursuing further her studies in Theory, sitting for the ABRSM examinations, as well as taking up piano lessons. This year, as part of her college studies and mentoring of Maestro Chircop, she delivered introductory music lessons, interacting with young children in ages 5 to 9.

Her initial exposure to local competitions started mainly with various festival organisers, mainly festivals by Erseb Productions such as Raise Your Voices, Arpeggio International 2016 and Music Was My First Love 2016 as well as performing with a live band in Battle of the Voices 2017, here winning the Overall Winner in her section. Such competitions opened up other opportunities to particpate in foreign festivals such as Riga Symphony - International Young Singers Festival 2016 in Latvia, placing 1st, as well as “Oltre Oceano Festival 2017” in Monreale, Sicily, placing 2nd.

Over recent years, her television exposure includes a number of competitions in local tv shows, such as Festival Kalamita 2015 and quite recently as a finalist in the talent show The Entertainers Singers Challenge 2018. In May 2018, Julia has participated in the semi-finals of another foreign televised talent show, Next Generation Italia, which was held in Verona, Italy.

In June 2018, she was selected to perform in the The Future Stars Concert - 2018, in aid of Puttinu Cares, a collaboration between Ally-El Entertainment and Soċjeta Muzikali Peace, Naxxar. Her latest achievement is being selected as one of the 10 finalists of the New Talent category in Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza 2018 with the song Fis-Skiet composed by Maestro Joe Brown and lyrics written by Joe Julian Farrugia. This is her 2nd experience in this contest, her first time was in 2015 with the song “Noli mal-Ħolm” composed by Cyprian Cassar, lyrics by Rita Pace.
