Christabelle Borg
Christabelle Borg (born 28 April 1992) is a pop singer from l-Imġarr, Malta. She is normally known simply as Christabelle.
Christabelle was 3 years old when she started performing on stage. Her first original song was called Jien Inħobb Il-Ħelu.
As a young teenager she hosted two TV shows Teen Traffic and Teen Trouble, both of which where nominated for the Malta Television Awards.
It was at this time that she chose to focus on music and took part in Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Taking part in various other international song contests also where she obtain the F.I.D.O.F Award and won the contest in Louisiana, USA.
Training and Education
Christabelle has studied music and vocal technique at the Mount Saint Mary’s College (SLS Technique) in Hollywood, California.
Aside from music, Christabelle has pursued studies in commerce obtaining a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Masters degree in Accountancy from University of Malta.
Performing
Over the years, Christabelle has performed a large number of gigs in Malta and away from the shores of her homeland, in places like Bari, Battipaglia, Rome in Italy; Baton Rouge, Los Angeles and also San Francisco in the United States. In the proces, she has also released several song which have received substantial airplay on Maltese radio stations.
Over the years, she has working with American and British producers released singles not for song contests. These include I Wanna Know, Flame, Naturally, Everytime I Bleed, Everything About You, Say and Fall For You. I Wanna Know was featured in the soundtrack for the show My Super Sweet 16 aired on MTV.
Christabelle was chosen by Gigi D’Alessio to perform a duet with him on his tour in 2009. She performed the number 1 hit song Un Nuovo Bacio at Palalottomatica in Rome. Around the same time Christabelle was also booked as the opening act for Laura Pausini.
Awards
Christabelle has won seven Bay Music Awards: Best Solo Artist 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, Viewers Choice Award 2008,2008 and Best Song in 2009.
Besides being nominated for several other awards Christabelle has also won Best RnB Artist at the Malta Music Awards.
In 2013 Christabelle took part in the Bay Kids Song which was a fund-raiser for Puttinu Cares. That same year, she also performed on a medley of original songs at the 10th Anniversary of the Bay Music Awards held at the Bay Arena.
Eurovision Song Contest
In February 2014 she appeared in the semifinal of Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2014 with her the Lovetricity written by Gerard James Borg and Magnus Kaxe, progressing to the final round ending up in the eighth place.
The following November Christabelle took part in Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2015 at the Marsa Shipbuilding, with the song Rush, which reached second place on the final night.
On Saturday 4th Febuary, 2018, Christabelle won Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2018 with the song Taboo, which she co-wrote with Muxu and Thomas G Son.
