Malta Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2016

After the success obtained by the Maltese representative ‎Destiny Chukunyere in Bulgaria when she win this Festival for the second time for Malta with the song Not My Soul lyrics by Matt Muxu Mercieca and composed by Elton Zarb with the highest number of 185 points in the history of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest since 2003. With this great victory Malta got the right to organize this Festival for the second time after in 2013 it was Gaia Cauchi in Ukraina who win this Festival for the first time, for Malta with the song The Start. In 2014 the festival again was held, when Malta was defending the title by Federica Falzon with the song Diamonds.

The 2016 Edition

For this 2016 Edition the organizer decieded PBS (Public Broadcasting Services) to organizer the festival again, with the first phase, singers must heard and judge, for just heard the voices on a cd player.

For this Malta Junior Eurovision Selection 2016. There where total of partrcipants who lodge their application, and from them, they where choose 20 singers, This announcement was made public through [tvm.com.mt], the official website of the Public Broadcasting Services and was annouced by PBS on Thursday on 30 June, 2016.

The Final Night

The Final night of the Malta Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2016 held on the 16, July, 2016 at the Mediterranean Conference Centre at Valletta. Tickets will be available from € 10 for the Balcony, € 15 for the Stalls, and € 20 for the Dress Circle only from the official website of the venue. The show will be shown LIVE on TVM at 20:30 CET.

The Opening

The Winner of the Malta Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015 and Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015 Destiny Chukunyere open the show with a new song named Embrace The Love (Opening Song). The opening song of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2016 held on 20 November,2016 in Valletta.

Comperes

The Presentation night of this Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2016 was in the hand of Eliane Saliba for the second year, with the help of Destiny Chukunyere when she made a small interview with te singers before they went out on stage.

The Interval

In the interval till the result was know Destiny Chukunyere sang three song Sound of silence, the winning song of the Malta Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015 Think and the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015 Not My Soul in Bulgaria with the highist 185 points.

The Jury

PBS has appointed three foreigner Members from Bulgaria, Italy and France.

Tele-voting carried the equivalent weight of the fourth Jury member.From this on could only vote for one time.

The winner has been decided by a combination of jury (75%) and public televote (25%) with the last one being allocated as an equivalent fourth member of the jury. With respect to the Jury, each jury member awarded 12 points to his/her favourite song, 10 points to his/her second favourite song, 8 points to his/her third favourite song, 7 points to the next, and so on down to 1 point for his/her tenth favourite song. The same voting sequence applied to the televoting results.

During the show, the contenders performed original songs and covers, but the winning artist will perform, during the Junior Eurovision, a song chosen by PBS in consultation with the artist, which will not be the same song which was performed in the Maltese final.
