Hermann Bonaci was born on the 23 April 1966. For the first years he lived with his family in Gwardamanġia, but spent his childhood in Valletta where together with his father and five brothers he worked with the family business Croce Bonaci Confectionery as a confectioner.

No member in the family has any history as an actor, but the Lucases on his mother’s side were all known and involved in the music entertainment.

As an actor, Herman started with Antonjani Youth Centre in Valletta in 1979, with their first play being a religious play directed by Joseph Camilleri performed in a church. In 1983 he joined M.A.S.K., thus moving to the Catholic Institute, a local popular theatre.

In 1987 he formed his first drama company with childhood friend Daniel Borg Carbott as DH Productions.

After this he formed his own company Kwinti and in 1990, Hermann joined his brother Karl as Bonaci Brothers Drama Company. This company made history on Maltese television with the first local soap opera by the name of Ipokriti with 65 episodes. At the time, Ipokriti proved to be the most popular TV program watched by over 125,000 viewers.

The Ipokriti success amply demonstrated Hermann’s ability in Television Executive Production, and the next step was in 1999 when he established his own production house: Hermann Bonaci Productions, with the launching of the most popular ever Maltese sitcom named Simpatiċi.

In 2001 he produced Il-Madonna taċ-Ċoqqa; a local classic in 26 episodes, which was awarded the Best Drama on Television during the annual National Broadcasting Awards.

Hermann current productions are made up of several mini-series which include: Gideb u Mħabba – a turbulent love story in 5 episodes, Dun Benit – a hilarious comedy in 17 episodes dedicated to the late well know actor Josie Coppini, Min hu bla ħtija? – a social drama based on political rivalry in 3 episodes, Għall-Paċi u għall-Mistrieħ – an exhilarating thriller in 5 episodes, Tan-Nanna Helu Manna – a traditional comedy in 2 episodes, and Sal-Quċċata – a thrilling drama based on the race for power in a broadcasting station in 6 episodes.

Though there is a wide spectrum of actors, which have, took part in HBP productions, Hermann has his own team members with most of them involved in all of his productions. This includes some of the best Maltese actors like John Suda, Frida Cauchi, Simon Curmi, Fabian Scerri de Carlo, Mary Rose Bonello and more.

Apart from acting Hermann is a talented singer and drummer player. At the age of 17 he was part of The Pals, the band which regularly played in weddings, parties etc.

Later he started to take part in local song contests, mostly in L-Għanja tal-Poplu. he got many good songs, but the most famous is called Mario dedicated to the late Mario Ellul composed by Dominic Galea and lyrics by Joe Julian Farrugia. Moreover, Hermann sings also the theme compositions for his own television productions.

Life as a television executive producer is already full with activity and very little free time is left, which time Hermann likes to spend with his family made up of Antoinette, his wife, and their three daughters: Stephanie (15 years), Christine (9 years) and Maria (3 years). All members of the family have acted on television.
