Żaru Mifsud Il-Għaxqi
was as the nickname suggests, a folksinger from Għaxaq. He was born on the 10th October 1933. Emigrated to North America where he folk sang in the Maltese community clubs of Detroit and Toronto.
Back in Malta he featured with the most renowned folksingers of the Seventies, including Żeppi Meli ta' Sika, Żaren Mifsud ta' Vestru, Pawlu Seychell Il-Għannej and Ninu Galea l-Kalora.
There are several keen għana followers who declare that Mifsud was their favourite folksinger of all. He passed away in 2001.
