The M3P Foundation will hold its second edit-a-thon on Saturday 19 October 2013 at Radju Kottoner, Dar it-Tama in Bormla.

The event starts at 9:30am and ends formally at noon but further casual editing may go on after that.

Attendees to editathons are always asked to bring their own laptop with them to participate fully. Free wifi available at the venue.

Join us for the 2nd M3P edit-a-thon!

What is an editathon?

The word "editathon" or "edit-a-thon" is a portmanteau of the words "edit" and "marathon".

In this case, "edit" is used in the sense of contributing edits to the M3P wiki.

Outline of activities at this event

Steve Borg provides an overview of where the M3P wiki stands after three years since the official launch. This introduction will be followed by a hands-on Q&A session leading to one-to-one editing assistance on pages and entries of specific interest to each attendee.

He shall then describe how one can create a stub, the reason behind its creation and how to accrue data, either raw through fieldwork or existing through deskwork, how to process it and contribute it to the M3P project.

Another process shall be the adding of categories, the phase of luring further contributors within and out of the existing community of practice, to beef up the written text.

Steve Borg shall display how a page can be amended and updated, have its images uploaded and its links created to keep the browser reading within the pages. He shall also delve on the importance of providing external links to further consolidate the information available.
