Clean-up Needed

The text currently on this page needs further work. It was most likely imported or reproduced from a website associated with the subject of the page - possibly through a process involving far-from-perfect machine translation, often with awkward results. It is awaiting the attention of an experienced M3P editor, which could be you. It may be slightly out of date, or may need other elements taken care of appropriately, including proofreading or copy-editing for grammar and style.

Sebastian Carl Calleja

Sebastian Carl Calleja was born on 3 July 1998 and he lives in Ħal-Qormi. He is a Singer.

His career started when he was eleven years old at his school when he was convinced to cover the popular song Angel originally sung by Chiara.

After this, he started taking singing lessons and also continued working on some cover versions. After this, he participated in his first small festival where he interpreted Il-Bajja Tal-Mellieħa and Ave Maria – he finished in third place with the first and third with the second song.

His version of Ave Maria started being played at the Corradino Correctional Facilities in Kordin during small fesitivies. Sebastian from time to time visits the residents and sings for them his rendition of the popular song. He even participated in a play they wrote for the Christmas celebrations.

Sebastian started singing in a number of choirs and this opened up some great opportunities including singing with a fifty piece orchestra in St. Sebastian’s Church in Qormi. After this experience he was part of Marie Therese Vassallo’s choir and from here on he started taking music lessons.

He even participated in different school productions including Aida, Rampilstilskin, Barnuża Blu, Katrin tal-Imdina, Sossy – The Pantomime, Teżor Mitluf, Carmen and Dracula.

Last year, Sebastian released his first original song called L-idolu written by one of his teachers Clifton Casha and composed by Joe S. Grech, the guitarist of the band New Courey. The song was successful and Sebastian even recorded a music video.

Sebastian competed in the San Remo Junior Malta 2014 and he was chosen amongst the finalists from sixty participants. He was one out of four singers chosen to represent Malta were he had the opportunity to sing at the Ariston in Italy. He interpreted the song ‘If Tomorrow Never Comes’.

Sebastian is studying the saxophone under the direction of Francesco L. Borg and vocally he is under the direction of Glen Vella.

He was recently announed one of the seven finalists of Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza Talent Ġdid with the song Kieku Taf written by Emil Calleja Bayliss and composed by Dominic Cini ‘Minik’.

His wish is to further his studies and would love to take part in other local and international competitions.
