Kurt Calleja (born 5 May 1989) is a singer and pianist from Hamrun, Malta.
Calleja started taking voice lessons with Brian Cefai in 2005. His first TV appearance took place in 2007 and eventually spent some time in London performing in venues like Tiger Tiger Host, The King's Arms, and Bada Bing. By 2009 he was appearing regularly on the TV shows Don't Stop Me Now and Vespri on Favourite Channel.
His national debut in Malta took place at Malta Eurosong 2010 alongside Priscilla Psaila, singing Waterfall by Mark Debono and lyricist Rita Pace.
In October 2010 he won the third edition of the festival Orfeo in Italia in Venice, Italy. No other Maltese performer had ever taken part in this contest before this edition. He was also named Best Male Singer and Most Promising New Act in the same contest. Subsequently, he was invited to sing in Bulgaria, Serbia, Poland and Sweden.[1]
His song Over and Over, co-written with Johan J'amtberg took part in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2011. It was also featured on Toni Sant's 243rd Mużika Mod Ieħor podcast.
Kurt Calleja appeared in two live unplugged shows at the Black Pearl in Ta' Xbiex on Saturday 5 February 2011.
