Fondazzjoni Kreattivitá was established as Fondazzjoni Ċentru għall-Kreattivitá in 2000 to serve as a public foundation whose primary function was to administer Malta's national centre for creativity at St James Cavalier in Valletta. Its identity was firmly entrenched in that of the St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity until the centre was renamed Spazju Kreattiv and the foundation was re-branded as Fondazzjoni Kreattivitá.
