He studied at the Seminary in [[Gozo]], the Lyceum and the [[University of Malta]], subsequently becoming a lawyer in 1943.

He started his political career in 1945 after having been elected on the First District in the ranks of the [[Labour Party]]. In 1948 he became Minister for Justice and Parliamentary Affairs. He was subsequently re-elected in 1950 and 1951 for the [[Malta Workers Party]], being appointed Minister for Justice in a coalition Government led by Prime Minister [[Giorgio Borg Olivier]].  
Huwa beda l-karriera politika tiegħu fl-1945 wara li ġie elett fl-Ewwel Distrett fil-gradi tal-[[Partit Laburista]]. Fl-1948 sar Ministru għall-Ġustizzja u l-Affarijiet Parlamentari. Sussegwentement ġie elett mill-ġdid fl-1950 u fl-1951 għall-[[Malta Workers Party]], billi nħatar Ministru għall-Ġustizzja fi Gvern ta’ koalizzjoni mmexxi mill-Prim Ministru [[Giorgio Borg Olivier]].


He subsequently rejoined the Malta Labour Party and was elected in every election between 1971 and 1987. He held various cabinet positions throughout the period. He retired from politics in 1992.  
Sussegwentement reġa' ngħaqad mal-Partit Laburista ta' [[Malta]]u ġie elett f' kull elezzjoni bejn l-1971 u l-1987. Huwa okkupa diversi karigi fil-kabinett matul il-perjodu. Huwa rtira mill-politika fl-1992.


Ġuze Cassar was instrumental in the drafting of the Republic Constitution of 1974. From 1997 onwards he often held the post of Acting President.  
Ġuze Cassar kien strumentali fl-abbozzar tal-Kostituzzjoni ta’ [[Malta Repubblika]] tal-1974. Mill-1997 'il quddiem huwa spiss okkupa l-kariga ta' Aġent President.


He devoted much of his spare time to the [[Lourdes Band Club]] in [[Qrendi]] and served as its President for a long period of time.  
Huwa ddedika ħafna mill-ħin liberu tiegħu lill-Każin tas-[[Soċjeta Filarmonika Lourdes Qrendi A.D. 1895]] u serva bħala l-President tiegħu għal perjodu twil ta’ żmien, ta’ 59 sena mill-1942 sa 2001.


He died on 27th November, 2001.
Huwa miet fis-27 ta' Novembru, 2001. U id-dar tiegħu ġiet imħollija lis-soċjeta u lum tifforma wkoll parti minn każin tas-Soċjeta.
