Magdalene Farrugia

Her experience in the musical scene goes back to her childhood where she sang with a choir of the parish of Santa Luċia and where she performed as a solo singer.

Later, in her youth she learned to play the guitar and took over and conducted this choir for a good number of years, which has also performed at weddings and events in other parishes and concerts.

The same choir was even invited to the Festival of L-Għanja tal-Poplu in the early 2000’s to perform medleys of traditional songs.

Eventually she joined the Joy Gospel Singers where she was one of the lead singers.

Today, she is part of the duo band MeadowStrings with Mario Camilleri which started around 2017 about 4 years ago.

As a duo they got the good maltese song Tbexbex which was a hit on the Maltese radio stations.

The duo does not seek any style as it varies from one song to another. However, you can notice a touch of Country and Irish pop in the songs released so far.

The song, Niftakar, who mainly sang by Mag Farrugia has helped them achieve their dream in being part of the 16 competitors in such a prestigious festival, L-Għanja tal-Poplu 2021.

On Saturday 7 August, 2021 MeadowStrings performed the song Niftakar lyrics by Mario Camilleri and music by Magdalene Farrugia win the title Best Song writer beside they win the third prize.
