D Capitals Band is a twelve piece band, founded in August 2014. The band is quite versatile in its musical repertoire and provides a nicely diverse collection of music which includes pop, rock, jazz and swing music.
The band is made up mainly of wind instruments and includes also string bass, percussion and keyboards. The majority of the band's musicians hail from Gozo's capital city Victoria, and that's from where the name of our band originated.
The band made its debut on the 2nd August 2014 during the Gozo Ceramics Festival in Xlendi bay. That event kicked off myriad of appointments in Gozo and in Malta.
The band participated in big events organized by the Ministry for Gozo, the Gozo Cultural Council; the Malta Tourism Authority and numerous Local Councils. The band also had the opportunity to perform in a number of occasions live on local television stations.
In December 2016 the band performed for the first time abroad. The band was invited to perform as a guest band in the Sanremo Senior Festival at the Teatro dell’Opera del Casino in Sanremo, Italy. The band is invited to perform in Palermo in February 2018 with Italian Artist Aida Satta Flores and other Italian artist in a concert to commemorate Palermo and Valletta as the Italian and European Capital Cities for Culture in 2018, and in Liberec (Czech Republic) in the Big Band Jam in September 2018. Gozitan vigorous conductor, Mro. George Apap is the band's musical director.
The Musicians & Singers
The band is made up of talented, qualified and experienced musicians and singers. These are considered to be leading musicians in our island having performed as soloists with a number of bands, ensembles and orchestras locally and abroad.
