Huwa beda bħala bandist mas-Soċjeta Filarmonika Maria Mater Gratiae mbagħad eventwalment daħal fil-kumitat eżekuttiv. Fejn bejn 1985 u 1986 kien Assistent Segretarju, bejn 1995 u 2001 kien Viċi President, bejn 2001 u 2010 serva bħala President, u f’ 2013 kien maħtur President Onorarju. Alfred Spiteri kien il-President tas-Soċjetà li fi żmienu nxtrat il-proprjetà maġenb il-binja tal-każin, magħrufa bħala l-Għassa l-Antika.
