The Overlooked Performance Exhibition is an art photography exhibition by Alex Attard which focuses on the subject of Renzo Piano’s new Parliament building for Valletta. This exhibit was on at St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity’s Upper Galleries. Attard has been observing the project’s development for over two years and, during this time, he’s noted similarities between a construction site and a theatre – workers perform to a script set by the architect and his team.

Attard’s exhibition focuses on a performance, hidden below the surface, which is often overlooked. This performance lies at an unconscious level of human behaviour, a result of the workers’ interaction with the relevant tools and materials.

Attard’s work seeks to explore the inconsequential as an aesthetic while also interpreting the key concepts of chance, reality and perception.
