Rough Trade was one of many short-lived rock band operating within the Rokarja AST compound in the 1980s. They became active around 1984, after guitarist John Borg parted company with Subverts.

Line-up: Ivan Vella (lead guitar) Simon Sammut (bass), John Borg (guitar), Joseph "Blackie" Farrugia (vocals), Vince Abela (drums).

Trivia

During the time this band played together, Simon's father Joseph Sammut was the resident conductor of the Manoel Theatre Orchestra.

Blackie's father George Farrugia was nationally known as Malta's Charlie Chaplin, since he was the country's foremost impersonator of the iconic comedian.
