Robbie Buttigieg was a footballer whose name was linked to Sliema Wanderers FC in the 1950s and 60s.
He was born in Sliema on 27 November 1936 and started playing football from an early age. Buttigieg made his debut with Shamrocks in 1955. During the season 1962-1963 he was the captain of the team. He played 166 official championship games.
With Sliema Wanderers he won seven championship titles, two Cassar Cup, five Scicluna Cup, three FA Trophies, one MFA League, one Independence Cup and one Testaferrata Cup. He played several times with the MFA and was a regular player of the RAF.
He died on 11 February 2004 at the age of 68.
