Relikc

Biography

Having played together in several bands and projects, the members finally stuck together as a formal band in 2009. The band crammed its schedule with a multitude of gigs. Relikc also released a number of songs over the years and established its position in the local music scene pushing through with its particular style and variety of sound. The band gained a very loyal audience for its energetic and fun performances.

2009 was a very busy year for Relikc. The band breathlessly crammed its schedule with a multitude of gigs. Relikc also recorded two of its early originals Tomorrow and Mindwreck and established its position in the local music scene pushing through with its particular style and variety of sound. After achieving two awards in Toni Sant’s annual listeners’ poll, one for each of the previously mentioned tracks (Top Online Release and Top Single respectively), Relikc further sought to spread its music.

2010 was even busier, with more gigs awaiting the band including a second appearance at the Great Farson’s Beerfest. It was a year which brought about a remoulding of Relikc’s progressive and slightly heavy style of music, shifting instead to a mixture of funk and alternative sounds. Influences include bands such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Maroon 5, Franz Ferdinand, Jamiroquai and Tower Of Power. The release of the single Rollercoaster was clear evidence of the band’s change, which ultimately proved to be a great decision as the track was welcomed by the fans, and was an instant hit on local airwaves and radio charts.

Early in 2011, the band was selected over a number of entries in a competition by Crazebook, the prize of which was a music video sponsored by No Sweat Productions. A few months later and under the direction of Nick Morales, Relikc were back with a video to complement their newest single Take The Blame, barely weeks after its release. Following on Rollercoaster’s tracks, it became the band’s second single to enter the local airwaves and make it to the top radio charts.

2012 marked a decline in Relikc's activity due to differing commitments and availabilities. This lead to the eventual decision by Robert to leave the band in order to focus on his other commitments. For a long time, Relikc was silent and was just about to end, when in 2013, Lesnich, a long-time friend, was asked to take Robert's place.

Throughout these last few months, Relikc has focused on rebuilding its tight and energetic performance. All members have gained a deeper connection with the band, and Lesnich's disciplined and focused drumming fit in perfectly like a glove. The band is funkier than ever!

Relikc's latest release is Prime Time, which also includes a music video.
