Clean-up Needed

The text currently on this page needs further work. It was most likely imported or reproduced from a website associated with the subject of the page - possibly through a process involving far-from-perfect machine translation, often with awkward results. It is awaiting the attention of an experienced M3P editor, which could be you. Malcolm Ellul

Malcolm Ellul was born on 11 th July, 1975. He is an Actor and stunt man.

From a tender age Malcolm was fascinated by stage arts and remained actively involved in theatre throughout his school years. Eventually, other interests, namely his pursue for a professional career as a specialist risk manager and consultant and his family gradually took over in priority and Malcolm had to put his hobbies on the back burner, only filling in from time to time.

Today at his age, the kids have grown, the wife Elizabeth Ellul Hawes has become an actress and he has settled on the job so he can afford to dedicate more time to his hobbies but has opted to concentrate more on filming than on theatre since the former is less taxing on his otherwise still busy agenda.

I just simply love theatre, particularly the friendships you build and the adrenaline rush before the curtain is raised quotes Malcolm, but theatre requires more commitment than I can afford so I have settled for film work instead with just the occasional stint on the woodwork.

Malcolm made a lot of training during the years, in Acting, Theatre, Arena and Film, and even drama and comedy, he done a lot of stunts like: - Car & Motorcycle Action, Sword Fighting – broad/roman/saber/2-handed/rapier, Arena Fighting (gladiator skills), Street Fighting (un/armed combat/disarming), Self Defence, Horse Riding/Jumping/Falling, High Falls, Stair Falls, Archery, Survival & Assault, Martial Arts (Shotokan Karate/Jiu-Jitsu), Boxing, Abseiling, Rock Climbing, Sky Diving, Open Water Diving, Sailing, use of ATVs, presenting,

Beside that he got experience even in Direction- Set assistant director on various local and foreign productions, crowd control, artistic direction, boom man, script supervision and continuity, and also – Production manager, locations manager, casting (principal and extras), sponsorships, props supervision, logging, call sheet planning

Since 2005 Malcolm has also become a popular face on local television. He has appeared in some of the leading dramas and TV Productions and also in a number of locally-aired commercials.

Solitaire (One Productions) (2005), What we did on our holiday (Granada) (2006), Roman Mysteries (BBC) (2006), Tgħanniqa (26th Frame) (2007), Carabinieri (Mediaset)(2007), Mons. Ġuze De Piro (2008), Kristu Tal-Kerrejja (26th Frame) (2008), Miriana Coljero` (One Productions)(2008), Dejjem Tiegħek Becky (EMH) (2008), L-Evanġelisti Season I (Take 2)(2009),Kommissar Rex (Mungo-Film) (2009), F’Salib it-Toroq Season I, II & III (26th Frame)(2009) (2010) (2011), Deċeduti Season I (Take 2)(2011), Prima Facie (26th Frame) , and Katrina (2013)

At this Malcolm smiles.

The fun element in local filming used to be somewhat exacerbated by the failure of some viewers to distinguish between the real persona and the fictional character resulting in undue personal attacks on some of my actor colleagues. Today it seems that viewership has matured and whilst comments on the characters are made and encouraged, personal slandering has become almost a thing of the past which augurs well and encourages actors to take on more challenging and controversial roles.

Looking back Malcolm can still boast over 80 productions under his belt ranging from commercials and short films to popular local and international TV series and a number of blockbusters. He has in fact rubbed shoulders with some of the industry’s greatest actors and directors in varying capacities from simple background roles to more prominent appearances and crew work.

Filming is character development and the first lesson you learn is to leave your ego at home. You do what you have to do and usually much more and if you get told off, and you will be, you just take it in your stride … adds Malcolm.

And when you have been engaged on such great sets as those of Gladiator (2000), Troy, Munich (2005), Agora (2008), Skyfall (2012), Game of Thrones, WWZ (2011), Rigal Lil Ommi (2012), Simshar (2013), The Maltese Fighter (2013), Adormidera (2013), She Ran Away (2013), Malta All Inclusive (2013), Adventurers (2013) etc. you would expect that Malcolm has quite a story to share and in fact has been interviewed on a number of occasions by local and foreign media on his onset experiences.

Malcolm also take part in several Theatre Producations begain at 1980 at Stella Maris School with different performes, from ( 2005 – 2009) in Knights Spectacular 1565, Imma Kollox Mitmum? (2007), Imma Għaliex Jien, Mulej? (2009), L-Allat li Waqgħu (2010), Tarxien Street Pageant (2010), SMS mind għand Ġesu' (2011), 3 Ġimgħat Qabel (2012), Maleth Conquest Show (2013)

He was judge in several modeling shows, and made many Commercials, and Re-Enactments like Lejlet Lapsi (2011), Tieġ Malti (2012), The Great Attack! (2013)

Malcolm sports an easily distinguishable look and is often stopped in the street in relation to characters being played at the time. He is fond of the people’s reactions and as long as they are not over-invasive really looks forward to their feedback. He often gets clients and perfect strangers beckoning out to him in his character name or in relation to some commercial or project that he may have worked on. The one which stuck most would seem to be the Frisian Flag TVC which has been airing since 2009 when at the time it was shot Malcolm looked rather different that he looks today. I get 2 types of regular comments laughs Malcolm. People who knew me then ask me about the whereabouts of the cow whilst more recent acquaintances shed doubt on whether I am the same person as the commercial.

At the moment Malcolm is playing the character of ALFRED in the popular local drama series KATRINA.
