Malcolm sports an easily distinguishable look and is often stopped in the street in relation to characters being played at the time. He is fond of the people’s reactions and as long as they are not over-invasive really looks forward to their feedback. He often gets clients and perfect strangers beckoning out to him in his character name or in relation to some commercial or project that he may have worked on. The one which stuck most would seem to be the Frisian Flag TVC which has been airing since 2009 when at the time it was shot Malcolm looked rather different that he looks today. ''I get 2 types of regular comments'' laughs Malcolm. ''People who knew me then ask me about the whereabouts of the cow whilst more recent acquaintances shed doubt on whether I am the same person as the commercial''.

The fun element in local filming used to be somewhat exacerbated by the failure of some viewers to distinguish between the real persona and the fictional character resulting in undue personal attacks on some of my actor colleagues. Today it seems that viewership has matured and whilst comments on the characters are made and encouraged, personal slandering has become almost a thing of the past which augurs well and encourages actors to take on more challenging and controversial roles and script writers to oblige accordingly.
