Lino Grech

Lino Grech was born on 5 November, 1930 at Sliema. Lino was an Actor , Author and Script Writer and Director. His daily occupation till retaried was head in Post Officer.

Lino Grech wrote theatre works of a social and didactic import, As an actor, he interpreted main parts in mainstream theatre in works by Chekov, Lope de Vega, and Arthur Miller amongst others, and Francis Ebejer plays.

Lino Grech wrote F’Baħar Wieħed first as a drama radio seriel on the Rediffiusion and after in 1976 for the tv, and it was the first-ever television serial in Maltese, running into 30 episodes and was screened on MTV. Where he played the caracter of (Pinu l-Pastizzar ) where be partnered the late Ġemma Portelli, where she played (Ġoma) although his work was very varied.

He directed plays at the De Porres Theatre, the Catholic Institute and Politeatru.

Grech’s publications include the first part of F’Baħar Wieħed the photo-story Il-Ġuri Tagħkom and the one act play L-Aħħar Logħba, recently in It-Tfal Jiġu bil-Vapuri and the famous production by Herman Bonaci Poduction Simpatiċi where Lino write many of the episiodes and play the role of Is-Sur Callus

On Monday 2 Dicember, 2013, at 83, Lino Grech leaves his loss his wife Frances and their children Joseph, Godwin and Eric, who was an actor too.

Funeral Mass held at Sacro Cuor parish church, Sliema, followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery.
