From a younger age he like so much to heard music and singing, mostly  when he was the area of Cafe’ Premier listening to bands of that years, such as [[Vinnie Vella Sr.]],[[Oscar Lucas]],[[Jojo]],[[Jimmy Dowling]], [[Val Valente]] and others, when such records began issuers [[Elvis Presley]], [[Pat Boone]], [[ Little Richard]], [[Kinks]] and [[The Animals]].
From a young age, Joe loved to listen to music and singing, mostly  in the Cafe’ Premier era, listening to bands led by bandmasters such as [[Vinnie Vella Sr.]], [[Oscar Lucas]], [[Jojo]], [[Jimmy Dowling]], [[Val Valente]] and others. He was also a fervent follower of the international scene, at the time of [[Elvis Presley]], [[Pat Boone]], [[Little Richard]], [[Kinks]] and [[The Animals]].


Joe along with teammate [[Charles Cutajar]] formed the duo, [[The Vagabonds]] and began singing in festivals after some time together and teammate they split, and Charles joined with  the group [[The Triffidds]].

Few months later, in 1965, Joe had an invitation from a band from [[Luqa]] [[The Northbeats]] to join them as a main singer, The band was composed by leader [[Joe Fiott]] (bass guitar / vocals) [[Charles Sacco]] (lead guitar / vocals), [[Tony Costa]] (rythem guitar) and [[Emy Said]] on (drums) after a few months joined them [[Victor Schembri]](organ/vocals).
A few months later, in 1965, Joe had an invitation from a band from [[Ħal Luqa]]; [[The Northbeats]], to join them as a main singer. The band was composed of [[Joe Fiott]] (bass guitar / vocals), [[Charles Sacco]] (lead guitar / vocals), [[Tony Costa]] (rhythm guitar) and [[Emy Said]] on (drums). Later, they were joined by [[Victor Schembri]](organ/vocals) too.


They played music of pop groups, such of The Beatles, Rolling Stones, the Kinks, The Monkeys, The Animal,The Hollies, etcc. They even played at weddings and in various places British services around Malta, in dance Halls such as the [[Phoenica]], [[Palace]], and open air shows such [[Premier Cafe’]],[[Sea Breeze]] [[Rocky Vale]], and other several places, they even made also some tours to [[Sicily]] where the go along with such Maltese singers girls like Stella and Carmen Cordina and [[Carmen Xerri]] know as (Rita Pavone of Malta).
They played pop group music, with hits by The Beatles, Rolling Stones, the Kinks, The Monkeys, The Animal, The Hollies etc. They even played at weddings, in various British services venues around Malta, in dance halls such as the [[Phoenicia]], [[Palace]], [[Premier]],[[Sea Breeze]] and [[Rocky Vale]]. They even played in [[Sicily]] with such Maltese singers Stella and Carmen Cordina and [[Carmen Xerri]] know as Malta's Rita Pavone.


Near the end of 1971 The Northbeats was stopped, and shortly after the group was formed again with the name of [[Life]] with  Joe Cilia, [[Charles Sacco]], [[Victor Schembri]] all ex-The Northbeats and other two members [[Michael Galea]] and [[Emy Dingli]] ex members of [[Gogocats]], after few weeks joined them [[Alfred Scicluna]] on lead guitar, now the group changed his  style again and began to playing rock music, tipo Led Zepplin, Cream, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath, the group combined together  until the end of 1972.
The Northbeats ceased temporarily late in 1971, until later, the band was formed again with a different name: [[Life]]. Its members were Joe Cilia, [[Charles Sacco]], [[Victor Schembri]], all ex-The Northbeats, and two new members; [[Michael Galea]] and [[Emy Dingli]], ex members of [[Gogocats]]. After a few weeks [[Alfred Scicluna]] joined on lead guitar. The group changed style again and began to play rock music, in the style of Led Zepplin, Cream, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath. The group remained until the end of 1972.


Joe in 1974 joined another group [[The Keepers]] the line-up was [[Saviour Cardona]] on organ, [[Carmel Camilleri]] on bass, and [[Horace Caruana]] as lead guitarand vocals, the drummer was Lapira but he after few weeks left the band, Joe contact one of his school teammate [[Tony Camilleri]] ex-drummer of another good band [[The Jaywalkers]] to join them, and now The Keepers change the name of another time to Life.

In this time Life begun to issure song disc on 45 rpm and got a great successes to by one of the songs wright by Tony Camilleri '''Ftakar Żmien l-Imgħoddi'''and '''Imħabba Tagħna'''” with this success  try another two songs by Tony Camilleri again '''Qawsalla'''” as an A-Side and B-Side “'''Paċi Vera'''”, the band contiune playing pop music of famous english bands, like Smokie and Hot chocolate, and playing various venues including [[Premier Cafe']] and [[Brittania]] and several other dancing halls, the group stopped in 1999.  
By this time, Life started publishing 45 rpm discs on the local market. They made an impact with Tony Camilleri's compositions '''Ftakar Żmien l-Imgħoddi''' and '''Imħabba Tagħna'''. Later they had another local hit, Tony Camilleri compositions again; '''Qawsalla'''” as an A-Side and '''Paċi Vera''' on the flip side. The band contiuned playing pop cover versions by famous international bands such as Smokie and Hot Chocolate. Time passes by and today Joe is retired from singing, but he was in heaven, when sometimes from time to time he  meet with his fellow members and several other groups members, in a reunion organized by Maltese [[Joe Demicoli]] and teammate [[Lawrence Magrin]] and residing sing along and playing great numbers of hits from the 60s discs 70 and 80 and depicting back those beautiful memories of past.             
In his retirement, Joe likes to meet his fellow colleagues occasionally, mostly re-unions organised by [[Joe Demicoli]] and teammate [[Lawrence Magrin]]. They take each occasion to play their instruments again and revive hits from the 60's, 70's and 80's, reliving their beautiful memories of past.

Joe Cilia

Joe Cilia (born 14 December 1947) is a singer from Valletta Malta.

From a young age, Joe loved to listen to music and singing, mostly in the Cafe’ Premier era, listening to bands led by bandmasters such as Vinnie Vella Sr., Oscar Lucas, Jojo, Jimmy Dowling, Val Valente and others.
