Doreen Micallef was born in Floriana,on (31st May,1949) daughter of Gerald and Ġiorġina nee Borg.

She studied art and literature at Diploma level.

In the 60s, Doreen was one of the leaders of the Moviment Qawmien Letterarju. Her first literary works were in the field of poetry. She was also fond of drama and was awarded the Golden Star in Broadcasting in 1969, 1970 and 1973 as best writer.

In 1972 she published six plays in a book called Wiċċ imb'wiċċ u drammi oħra. Her poetic works have been collected in the books Fit-Triq ta' l-Empire (1975), De Profundis (1979) and Kyrie (1980).

She died on 1st December, 2001.
