Apart from being Malta’s longest-standing pop icons, X-Tend have set some local benchmarks throughout their two decades (and counting) years of existence. They burst onto the scene in 1984 with the synthpop single I Can Feel, the song that also helped them win the Passaporto Per San Remo Festival in Italy and releasing their debut album in that same year. Then in 1991, they released Social Dancing, the first album by a local artist to be released on CD and in the late 1990s, they marked another first, with the release of the Big Boys Don’ Cry EP, which as the first multimedia release on the local scene.

Switching styles to a more contemporary guitar-based sound, 1997 saw the release of the well-received Powerplay album, which was followed two years later with a definitive compilation entitled The X-Tend Collection. Now, the band marks its recording return with Conclusion, a song that was originally written even before I Can Feel and was never released. Contrary to its title, the new re-recorded version finds X-Tend all refreshed and raring to go, with more songs currently being recorded for their forthcoming tenth album. The CD single contains two bonus versions of Conclusion; a dance mix and a dub mix that retain the retro elements of the original demo revisited through the technology available today. The single, launched recently during a special performance at Tattingers, is available from local record outlets.
