Simon Schembri studied guitar from the age of six, later moving to Paris to complete his studies with Alexandre Lagoya. He won first prize unanimously at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Paris. He has played at many festivals across France (Flaneries Musicales de Reims, Saint Germer de Fly, Mediterranean Festival), as well as in Italy, German, Turkey, England and Malta.
He received a Malta Music Award for his role as director for the first classical music festival in Malta. He has performed alongside the Debussy Quartet, Parisii and Arpeggione, flautist Philippe Bernold, harpist Christine Icart, and soprano Alexia Cousin. Fascinated by the development of the instrument, Simon has undertaken thorough research on improving the sound quality of the guitar alongside famous Luthier Ignacio M. Rozas.
