Ruth Scerri is a local singer born on the 22nd of June 1991. Ruth lives in Birkirkara along with her husband Andrew and their son Benjamin who will soon be 3 years old. Right now Ruth is also expecting her second child.
From since she was a little girl, singing was always a part of Ruth’s life. In fact, she says that if there was no singing and no music, her life would lack a lot of emotion. To Ruth, singing is a way of expressing herself, which results in tranquillity and satisfaction.
In July 2016, Ruth released a cover version of the song ‘Break Free’ which is originally owned by the famous singer Ariana Grande. This cover version was uploaded on the YouTube Channel and since then it has been a success to this local singer.
In a short period of time, this video has achieved over 450,000 views and the number is increasing daily. In the analytics of this video, it shows that it has been viewed by people from various countries from around the world. Some of them are the Philippines, Cyprus, France, Chile, Argentina, Germany and Canada. Ruth is extremely surprised and happy that she achieved this success not only locally, but is also being recognized by people from all around the world.
Ruth has been practicing her singing these past 6 years along with her teacher Malcolm Pisani. Till now, Ruth has done 13 covers and is now working on a new one which should be published in the near future. In these 4 years, Ruth has taken part in 3 singing competitions, where in one of them she was placed second in the category of ‘New Comers’ and she also placed first and best voice in the adult category. Ruth’s wish now is to work on her own original song, which she intends to do in the coming year.
As a singer who is in the beginning of her career, Ruth feels lucky that she managed to reach such a high level in a short period of time, especially since she managed to get a cover to reach the eyes of the foreign and this makes her very excited to see what the future holds in her singing career.
