Novel was formed in March 2011, when three friends decided to start playing acoustic music together. The band eventually evolved in something that was more structured, and it currently has five members in all:

• Gabriella Azzopardi (vocals and violin)
• Remy Azzopardi (vocals and rhythm guitar)
• Mario Galea (guitar)
• Mark Ellis (bass guitar)
• Pawlu Portelli (percussions/drums).

Novel’s ability to play a wide variety of music and to cover multi-genre songs has given it a name, and the public’s response has also been highly positive. The band has performed in a number of different venues and for several events, ranging from pubs to wedding receptions around Malta and Gozo.

Some of their recent appearances were at the Gozo Delicata Wine Festival 2012, Summer 2013, Tribali Festival, EUFA Euro Qualifiers 2016 and other events where they performed alongside leading local artists.

The band also has a lot more in store since their recent endeavors include working on original music which they hope to produce and reveal to the public in the near future. Stay tuned!
