Nicky Saliba

Nicky Saliba was born on 1 May, 2000. Grew up at is-Siġġiewi and lives there, Nicky comes from a talent family, infact her mother Audrey Saliba and her sisters Christine-Marie Saliba where famous actress in the tv drama Ħbieb u Għedewwa.

Nicky Saliba started taking interest in music at a very young age and from 9 years of age he was introduced to the saxophone by his parents. He studied musical theory and the alto saxophone itself for two years and later on called off his studies regarding music to focus solely on his education. However he never abandoned his love for music and kept on playing basic songs on his saxophone and even the piano with aid of the internet. The first step in Nicky’s electronic music advancement was when he purchased Garage Band on his iPad where he set up musical arrangements of melodies he heard in his mind and even combined multiple songs creating his own mashups.

The software he was using helped him accomplish many things such as exposing him to few of the features that can be found on computer based studios however the process of creating a harmony on iPad was a slow process and proved to be very inefficient for him. This led him to search for a more appropriate software later on discovering FL Studio 12.

At first all the complications presented to him on FL’s interface confused him but with the help of the internet, and his sheer exploratory attitude Nicky managed to find his way around the software. In the beginning Nicky used vocals, sound effects and loops from the internet to create short songs as a source of practice, but later on, he decide to produce all the sounds himself. His friends and family began liking the sounds he was producing so he never gave up on his dream and after patiently spending more than a year examining the vast attributes the studio possesses he had sufficient training to produce songs.

Currently he is taking a particular interest in the RnB genre, composing the songs and lyrics himself, singing, collaborating with rappers and singers, taking advice from a different perspective and browsing the web for even more instructions but also wishes to explore the variety of other genres which he finds more challenging. So far he has released 3 songs but is working on even more projects for his Youtube channel entitled TurNickup which is his original brand name. The channel holds all his finished projects from when he first started so that the viewers will witness his progress so far. At his current age of 16 he utilizes simple/practical tools rather than buying the expensive equipment that is generally required which is overwhelming for him at such a young age, but plans to expand his musical assets in the future.

At this stage Nicky could now express himself via the studio but he is certain that there is yet much more to learn and dedicate, currently looking for someone who could teach him the traits professionally rather than instructing himself.
