Manolita Grech

Manolita Grech nee' Ellul, born 6 February 1981 in Paola, to parents Godwin Ellul and Nancy Ellul, has two younger siblings Nadia and Tyrone. Manolita Grech is publicly knows as an actress/comedian. She married in 2011 and has a daughter Penny Grech.

Her interest in acting started at secondary school , where she used to take part in Xmas plays, prize day plays. At the age of 12, she was chosen by the drama unit to represent Malta in the ‘World Children’s Theatre Festival, in Lingen Germany, where children from several countries from around the world, prepared a performance for the festival. Among the other children who were chosen to represent Malta, was Abigail Mallia , whom later on she worked with, Take Two production house.

Manolita stopped persuing acting after school, but sparked her interest in TV again at age 27. Take Two were holding workshops to choose actors for their new drama project Evangelisti and she was given a secondary role, a character Janice. On Evangelisti, she worked for the first time with Gordon Bonello who played her brother ‘Daniel’ in the series, and soon found out how they both had great actors’ chemistry especially when it came to comedy.

After Evangelisti, Take Two had a comedy project in mind , the popular Deċeduti, Manolita was asked to audition. Initially she and Gordon were to be kept apart, due to the fact that the pair working together on set sometimes proved impossible and frustrating to the crew. However once they auditioned Rosie and Ramon together, one could not deny the good chemistry. Thereon Manolita was given the part of Rosie , where she worked closely with Gordon Bonello playing Ramon, Rosie’s husband. Deceduti was a comedy series, with living characters and ghost characters co existing in a block of apartments.

De1eduti was very successful , so there was another comedy project in the pipeline by Take Two : Min Imissu 'Manolita' was asked to be part of the team and played several roles mainly ‘Dolly’ and ‘Mary Spitfire’. ‘Min Imissu ‘, was recorded live infront of an audience, so the experience was different to Deceduti, where filming was not live .It was her first experience working live.

Manolita also had a role in local film Maltageddon , the character Zora. She stopped acting after ‘Min Imissu’ , because of her daughter and took a break for 2 years.

The actress went back to TV 2014, on a reality show Tour Du Ron, which was hosted by Ronald Briffa. The reality show was shot in Sicily over 4 days.

There is a comedy project which she will be working on in the near future . Comedy is Manolita’s forte, she is a comic person by nature and finds that comic roles are more challenging and creative.
